MLWGS Regional School Board
Contact the MLWGS Regional School Board to Support Antiracist Policies
The Maggie Walker Governor's School Regional School Board is made up of one representative from the school board of each school district that sends students to Maggie Walker. They meet monthly to discuss matters that pertain to MLWGS. Their primary purpose is to “set policy that guides Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School and represent and interpret the objectives, goals, programs, and needs” of MLWGS.
The Antiracist Alumni group watches the monthly meeting recordings and sends comments for the open comment portion of the meetings. In the past, we have written to express our support of updating the MLWGS admissions policy such that standardized testing is not included in the assessment portfolio. We have also written to express support for more staff professional development in culturally responsive teaching and to support current student initiatives and requests.
You may attend in person to make public comments, but you are also able to remotely submit a comment using this form by 10:00 am the Wednesday prior to the meeting (held on Thursdays). You can also email your remarks to the Board Clerk if you would prefer.
All pertinent Regional School board meeting info can be found here (including who is on the board, the dates of meetings, the minutes, and recordings of past meetings).
